Kaduna State Governor Namadi Sambo today signed a Development Cooperation Framework (DCF) with UK Department for International Development, the World Bank and United Nations System in Nigeria. The framework covers all existing and future development partner assistance in the state by the signatories for the 2010-2014 period and may be reviewed in 2012.

Beverly Warmington, Director for West and Southern Africa; Country Director for Nigeria, Onno Ruhl; and Helder Muteia, Resident Coordinator, respectively, represented DFID, the bank and UN (development partners) at a ceremony in Kaduna, the state capital.

A statement from Richard Montgomery, Head of DFID Nigeria, said the framework “is the first joint agreement between a state government in Nigeria and development partners. All programmes in it are in line with the Federally approved United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) and the Country Partnership Strategy of which the World Bank and DFID are partners.

The DCF will maximize the impact of development partner’s assistance to Kaduna State and is based on the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. The DCF commits development partners to align their support behind the state government’s own plans and programmes for poverty reduction and improved governance systems.”
